Chad Burns

My name is Chad Burns, and I have been fishing and hunting since I was a young kid.  My Dad and Grandfather instilled many good practices in me at a young age, and made me understand the importance of preserving the outdoors for future years to come.

I started competitive fishing when I was 18 years old.  I fished local club and bar tournaments to start and then in 1997 I entered as a co-angler in the Professional Walleye Trail.  I fished as a co-angler for 2 seasons with the PWT.  I learned so much and met so many incredible people in those 2 years.  At the conclusion of my second season as a co-angler I was ready to take the next step.

1999-2005–  I fished the PWT(Professional Walleye Trail) as a PRO.  Well, the first season was definitely an eye opener to say the least.  Once I got through my first season, things started to come together for me.  Cashed checks in 7 of the next 15 events with my highest finish being 8th.  In the end, the time on the road was just too much so I started looking at other alternatives to limit some of the travel.

2006-2014–  I fished both the Masters Walleye Circuit and the Midwest Walleye Series.  The 2007 MWC out of Oconto is where I got my first win.  We proceeded to win 4 MWS Tournaments.  We capped that off with 9 top tens’, and cashing checks in over half of our tournaments.  In 2013 my fishing partner was diagnosed with cancer and passed in 2015.

I also started Burnsies’ Guide Service in 2006.  I offer fully guided trips during open water and on the ice, on the Lake Winnebago System and other inland Wisconsin waters.

2016-Present– I started fishing with my longtime friend Scott.  We have been fishing the AIM Wisconsin Series, Battle on Bago, and Battle on The Bay.  I have also fished 3 NWT Tournaments as a PRO. Cashing a check in 2 of the 3.

About my Guide Service:

I started my guide service in 2006.  I started by offering guided trips on the Winnebago System and other Wisconsin waters during the open water and ice fishing seasons.  I have expanded to include the Green Bay System as well.  I am a fully licensed Captain by the USCG.  I average 175 days between open water and ice fishing, with about 75 percent being open water charters.  I am often targeting walleye on my charters but do have my fair share of panfish trips mixed in, especially during the ice fishing season.  The ice fishing portion of my business is the fastest growing part now.
